Worship Study: A 45-minute lesson in Robert E. Webber's Learning to Worship with All Your Heart: A Study in the Biblical Foundations of Christian Worship;
Evening Prayers: The 30-minute evening prayers taken from John Wesley's "Order for Evening Prayer, Every Lord's Day", from his book, Sunday Service of the Methodists in North America; and
Tea and Refreshments: Tea, refreshments and conversation outdoors.
Robert E. Webber has been in the forefront of the worship renewal movement for a quarter century as a speaker, author and teacher. Through books such as his The Complete Library of Christian Worship, he has helped countless churches recapture his richness of the great traditions of Christian worship.
These 45-minute lessons from Robert Webber's book will be presented with examples from the Wesleyan-Anglican tradition. Then, the 30-minute Wesley evening prayers services will provide an example of that form of worship as regularly experienced in the 18th century. The prayers will be led by the Rev. Dr. Brook Thelander of Epworth Chapel on the Green and the Rev. John Dawson of Light of the Cross Fellowship.
No Experience Necessary: Everyone, from whatever religious background or none, will be able to participate fully. No advance knowledge or experience is necessary, for this to be enlightening, satisfying and comfortable. We recommend purchasing the Webber study book for the series ($8.57 + .43 tax = $9.00 price), but neither the book nor class preparation is required.
During the study session, children will enjoy their own lesson, with some recreation.
